Who is eligible for the Shopify student discount?
Students currently enrolled at participating colleges and universities in the US and Canada. You must have an active student email address from an eligible institution.
How long does the free trial last?
You get 4 months of Shopify free to build your store — that's one full semester. When you're ready to start selling, pay just $1/month for 3 months.
What if my school isn't listed?
We're constantly adding new partner institutions. If your school isn't listed yet, reach out to us at students@shopify.com and we'll look into it.
Can I use any email address to sign up?
You need to sign up with the email address associated with your school (the domain listed for your institution). This is how we verify your student status.
What happens after the free 4 months?
You can pick any Shopify plan and enjoy $1/month for 3 months. You can also pause or close your store at any time.
Do I need a business to start?
Not at all! Many students use Shopify to test ideas, sell their own creations, or start a side project. You don't need a registered business to get started.
